I'm going for a walk, and I may be some time!
Armed with a tent, a camping stove, my trusty trekking poles and a spare pair of underpants, I will valiantly fight my way south from John o'Groats, through the remote mountains and boglands of Scotland, along the Pennine spine of England and via a multitude of trails which, when stitched-together, ultimately lead to Land's End.
The 1,200 mile journey will be undertaken over a three month period starting 13 July 2009. Since much of the route is sparsely populated, particularly in Scotland, I will be wild-camping and drawing water from streams where necessary. On days when my resolve is a little weaker I will seek out hostels, bunkhouses and B&B’s, with their attendant luxuries of a hot shower and a soft bed.
Naturally, I will be collecting for charity - in fact two charities: CANCER RESEARCH UK and the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION. I explain a little more about my charity choices on the DONATE page.
Along the way I will share my experiences through my DIARY & PICS page in the hope that I can persuade readers to contribute to my chosen charities - and perhaps even inspire them to embark upon their own adventure.
Please give generously.
Many thanks.
